Operation:
Cyclones applied in aspirating systems of machines and equipments are designed for cleaning air off solid dust particles suspended therein.
Dust loaded air enters the upper cylindrical part of cyclone through the spiral shaped inlet. The rotary motion is imparted to the air-dust mixture on entering the cyclone. The air expands in the first place and releases the heaviest of the dust. In the whirling current of air particles of dust, by rotational energy and specific gravity tend to move towards the outside of the circle in which the air moves. The velocity of the air is reduced by coming in contact with the side of the cyclone and as the cyclone is hopper the dust particles tend to roll down to the outlet of the cone. The cleaned air is discharged through the air outlet outside the cyclone.
Working Principle:
The dust-mixed conveying gas is started turning by transferring it into a separator by means of a spiral construction. Gas is forced in to rotate in the cyclone. Due to the centrifugal forces dust particles are carried to the surroundings.
Function:
To separate the air & dust by centrifugal action.
